BRAC is seeking qualified Chief of Party for the USAID funded “Community-led Climate Smart Innovations to Address Climate Change Impacts (UDDOM)” project awarded on March 2024 and expected to run for 5 years.


UDDOM project aims to empower climate-vulnerable communities in Bagerhat, Sunamganj, and Jamalpur districts of Bangladesh to cope with and mitigate the impacts of climate change-induced disasters. By focusing on strengthening local government institutions and providing access to financial resources, crop insurance, and climate-smart agricultural practices, the project seeks to enhance the resilience of both communities and local governance structures. Through initiatives such as “Adaptation Clinics” for climate-smart agriculture, the provision of financial services, and the construction of climate-resilient infrastructure including water facilities and housing, UDDOM integrates proven adaptive solutions with locally developed strategies. Additionally, the project endeavors to improve early warning systems and facilitate early action to better prepare communities for future climate-induced disasters. Over a span of 60 months, UDDOM aims to foster sustainable development and resilience in the face of increasingly frequent and severe climate-related challenges.


The Chief of Party will lead the “Community-led Climate Smart Innovations to Address Climate Change Impacts” project. S/he will responsible for overall project implementation. The COP will be responsible for liaison with USAID to communicate project updates. S/he will be the primary representative of the project to key external agencies, including USAID and other donor groups, project partners, GOB, non-government entities, and other stakeholders. S/he will guide the project team to comply and follow USG/USAID rules and regulations in the area of implementation management.


Job Description

  • Oversee project management and administrative aspects of project implementation in coordination with senior management of the BRAC Climate Change Programme and Disaster Risk Management Programme.
  • Oversee program planning, budgeting, financial management, and ensure contractual compliance with USAID and BRAC policies and regulations.
  • Supervise, manage, and mentor program staff, including accountability for hiring a diverse and qualified staff and building a strong team.
  • Supervise project administrative staff and short-term consultants to ensure effective project implementation across all deliverables.
  • Support to prepare of annual work plans and progress reports and ensure timely submission to USAID.
  • Coordinate the inputs and activities of local partners, and monitor their progress.
  • Coordinate with other BRAC departments (CCP, DRM, research, communication, finance, gender, procurement, audit, MEAL, monitoring) and external partners to contribute to reduce the risk of climate-related disasters and improve communities’ resilience to climate change.


Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Only Bangladeshi nationals are welcome to apply.
  • Masters in any relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and duties in programs focused on organizational development in the Bangladeshi context.
  • Proven experience managing operational components on large, complex donor-funded projects (with strong preference for past USAID-funded project management experience)
